The Thanksgiving (Leftover) Parade

Savory Turkey Soup, from Thanksgiving leftovers

What ‘cha doing reading a food blog? Didn’t you get your fill of food chatter yesterday? In fact, didn’t you receive the memo insisting you be crushed into a crowd at a Black Friday 5 HOUR ONLY sale?

Leftover mashed potatoes thickens the soup.

Maybe you’re with me, content to stir the pot, stretching that turkey carcass in a bath of seasoned water till it’s bones are stripped to gristle making stock for a loosey-goosey recipe for turkey soup. In addition to using the carcass and leftover meat, this recipe  tidily utilizes the remainder of your Thanksgiving leftovers: Gravy serves as a viscous demi-glace, for example, while leftover mashed potatoes thickens the brew.

Turkey Quinoa Soup, Turkey & Cranberry Enchiladas, Turkey Club Sandwich,  Smoky Turkey Tetrazzini, Roast Turkey Cobb Salad, are other tried and true recipes I’ve used in Black Fridays past, content steering clear of the shopper’s stampede.
