Cranberry Cosmos

Cranberry Cosmos

This is a great drink developed by my daughter, Greta, who can construct a drink almost as well as she builds furniture.  To assist with tuition payments at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, she bartended in downtown Chicago. I love inventing recipes for food — she loves inventing recipes for drinks.

Her bartending days are behind her, but she hasn’t lost her knack. I put her to work coming up with a “spirited” recipe for the season.

Recipe: Cranberry Cosmos

Ingredients

  • 2 parts vodka
  • 1 part unsweetened cranberry juice
  • 3 parts sweetened cranberry juice
  • 1 part Grand Marnier
  • Sugar, optional
  • Champagne
  • Orange zest

Instructions

  1. Combine the vodka, cranberry juices, Grand Marnier in a small pitcher and mix well. Add sugar to taste, if desired.
  2. Add champagne to taste. Pour into martini glasses or champagne flutes. Garnish each glass with orange zest and serve.

Yield: Depends on the “parts”. One “part” often yields 2 “drinks”.
